In the early 1940s, the von Trapp family toured the United States as the Trapp Family Singers before eventually settling in Stowe, Vermont, on an enchanted farm with sweeping mountain vistas reminiscent of their beloved Austria. In the summer of 1950, they began welcoming guests to a rustic, 27-room family home/lodge. After a devastating fire in 1980, the original structure was replaced by the new Trapp Family Lodge, a striking, 96-room alpine lodge situated on 2,600 acres offering magnificent indoor and outdoor resort amenities.

Upon arrival, savor the Austain Affair buffet lunch which includes Austrian Potato Soup, Garden Salad (Mixed Greens, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Red Onions, Balsamic Vinaigrette), Rolls & Vermont Butter, Braised Beef Hungarian Goulash (GF), Potatoes, Sour Cream, Parsley, Sauteed Salmon (GF) Roasted Potatoes, Wild Mushrooms, Mustard Caper Crème

Cheesy Vegetarian Spaetzle Skillet, Seasonal Vegetables and Pickled Red Cabbage. A variety of Austrian Desserts are included along with Coffee, Tea, Lemonade & Iced Tea.

After lunch we will experience a tour of the property which will give you insight to the true and imagined story lines in the Sound of Music and gives you an in depth look at how the von Trapps escaped Austria and ended up in beautiful Stowe, Vermont. Watch a 20-minute documentary about Maria's last trip to Salzburg and you will even get to meet a family member and hear what their experience was like growing up with Maria.

After our time at the Lodge we will visit Cold Hollow Cider in Stowe to sample fresh VT apple cider and do a little shopping before we return home. We will depart at 4pm with an approximate arrival in the Captial District at 7:30pm. One rest stop on return.
