Friday, July 11:

Board the coach today and travel to Maine. Perched in the most spectacular mountain location in New England, The Jordan is the premier address at Sunday River Resort (207-824-5000) in Newry, Maine. It offers sweeping views of the resort's western peaks and across the valley toward the Mahoosuc Range. Rooms include flat screen tv, coffee maker and hair dryer. As you enter the newly renovated lobby, you'll immediately feel the connection between the contemporary mountain design and the natural surroundings. Amenities include a health club, outdoor heated pool and hot tub and a full service spa. The Jordan Spa offers a wide variety of spa services such as hot stone therapy, customizable facials, and body treatments, set in a spectacular mountain location at the resort's Jordan Hotel. The spa brings luxury, ambiance, and relaxation to every treatment. Several dining options are available during your stay. The Northern Lights Cafe is a go-to spot for breakfast and lunch at The Jordan, and offers both dine-in and takeout. Shuttles are available to the Great Summit Lodge for Camp Restaurant or to the Golf Club and The Clubhouse. Camp brings a cozy-yet-modern dining experience, reminiscent of an age-old Maine tradition: escaping daily life with a trip ‘upta Camp.’ The Clubhouse offers a range of options, from quick bites to hearty dinners, all with gorgeous views of the Sunday River Golf Club and Mahoosuc Mountains. There is also an outdoor pool so be sure to bring your swinsuit! Dinner is included at the resort tonight. The rest of the evening is on your own.

Saturday, July 12:

A full breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. Today you will have most of the day available to enjoy the amenities of the resort. Lunch is on your own at the resort. After dinner, a local guide will join us for a Moose Tour. This tour includes the Artists Bridge, a popular destination spot for tourists and locals alike. Built in 1872 this bridge has survived many floods in the area and has even been designated a historical landmark! Next we’ll stop at Screw Auger Falls in Grafton Notch State Park, a 25-foot waterfall which flows into the Bear River. Enjoy a short walk (1/10 mile) along the gorge to the falls for beautiful photo opportunities. Then we will continue on into Grafton Notch for the moose portion of our moose tour. They tend to emerge around dusk. The remainder of your evening is free to enjoy the resort after the tour.

Sunday, July 13:

Following breakfast (included) we will enjoy a ride on the Chondola. Escape to the mountains and take a ride up to the top of North Peak on our Chondola for sweeping views of the Sunday River Valley and Mahoosuc Mountains, including the third-highest peak in Maine, Old Speck. On the way up, you can choose to ride on an open chair or in an enclosed gondola cabin. Then to head back down, ride in a gondola, or walk down one of the hiking trails. Enjoy the resort amenities until we depart at 2:00pm with an approximate arrival in the Capital District at 8:00pm. One stop each way.
