Now in its 129th year, the Rochester Lilac Festival is the largest free festival of its kind. Held in Highland Park, a Frederick Law Olmsted-designed park, the Rochester Lilac Festival attracts over a half a million visitors from all over the world annually. The festival is packed with incredible attractions, including a diverse selection of food vendors, music, Guided Walking Tours, a bustling farmers market, and the award-winning Art in the Park art show. We will check-in to our hotel, the newly renovated Holiday Inn Express Rochester - University Area (585-272-7800) in Henrietta, NY with free high-speed internet and indoor heated pool. You will be on your own for the rest of the evening. There are a few restaurants within walking distance and others that are a short Door Dash or Uber ride away.
Monday, May 10:
A full buffet breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. Today we head back to Highland Park for more time at the festival to enjoy the sights and scents. Lunch will be on your own at the festival. After lunch we will head to Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Park in Canandaigua, NY. Explore the mansion, nine beautiful gardens and an Arboretum with a guide on a walking/tram tour as well as the Fingerlakes Wine Center located right on the grounds where a wine tasting is included. The 50-acre estate is one of just two public gardens in all of the New York State Parks System. We will depart at 4pm and arrive in the Capital District around 7:30pm. One stop each way.
