Venture with us to Essex, Connecticut for a relaxing and scenic 3.75 hour luncheon excursion. Upon our arrival at Essex Station, we will board a restored 1920’s Pullman Dining Car to savor a delicious 3-course lunch prepared and cooked on board. Meal choices are as follows: 1) Braised Beef Tips (in red wine over mashed potatoes with seasonal roasted vegetables) 2) Chicken Francaise (with white wine, lemon, butter, and fresh herbs served with vegetable and fingerling potatoes) or 3) Eggplant Rollatini (w/whipped ricotta and fresh mozzarella served over angel hair topped with marinara). You will enjoy your lunch as you travel along the Lower Connecticut River Valley. At Deep River Landing you will transfer to the Becky Thatcher Riverboat for a cruise on the Connecticut River, bursting with lush scenery and historic sites such as Gillette Castle. Our journey will come to an end riding in Coach Passenger cars aboard the train back to Essex Station. Following our tour we will depart for home at 3:30pm with an approximate arrival back in the Capital District at 6:30pm. Non-stop each way.

However, the restored historic trains and riverboat are from an era that did not consider accessibility. Many variables such as the tall steps for boarding, narrow aisles, small-doored restrooms, potentially steep boat gangway, and gravel platform at Deep River Landing present particular mobility challenges for some guests.

For safety and insurance requirements, it is necessary that all guests be able to move around our grounds without assistance from their team. Their team cannot help guests up or down stairs or carry guests to seats, nor is there storage capacity for wheelchairs and walkers when the train/boat are in motion.
