Venture with us to Essex, Connecticut for a relaxing and scenic 3.75-hour luncheon excursion. Upon arrival at Essex Station, we’ll board a beautifully restored 1920s Pullman Dining Car and savor a freshly prepared three-course lunch cooked right on board. Entrée choices include: 1) Beef Short Rib with root vegetable purée and seasonal vegetables 2) Chicken Cacciatore over jasmine rice with seasonal vegetables, or 3) Roasted Portabella Mushroom with roasted red peppers and mozzarella All meals include a green salad, roll, and the chef’s choice of dessert. Gluten-free or dairy-free meals are available upon advance request. Relax and take in the views as we travel through the Lower Connecticut River Valley, then transfer at Deep River Landing to the Becky Thatcher Riverboat for a scenic cruise along the Connecticut River, featuring lush landscapes and historic landmarks such as Gillette Castle. Our journey concludes with a return trip to Essex Station in comfortable coach passenger cars aboard the train. We depart for home at 3:30 PM, with an approximate arrival back in the Capital District at 6:30 PM. Non-stop each way.

An 8% admin fee will be added to this tour at the time of booking. This fee covers various operational costs, including record-keeping, customer support, and maintaining the web site that offers you the convenience to book tours 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Essex Station is proud to be an ADA compliant site. Their campus, public buildings, and grounds are open to the public and wheelchair accessible.

However, the restored historic trains and riverboat are from an era that did not consider accessibility. Many variables such as the tall steps for boarding, narrow aisles, small-doored restrooms, potentially steep boat gangway, and gravel platform at Deep River Landing present particular mobility challenges for some guests.

For safety and insurance requirements, it is necessary that all guests be able to move around our grounds without assistance from their team. Their team cannot help guests up or down stairs or carry guests to seats, nor is there storage capacity for wheelchairs and walkers when the train/boat are in motion.
