Friday, July 10:
We will travel south to our accommodations tonight at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center (301-965-4000), a four-star property on the shores of the Potomac River at the National Harbor. Adjacent to attractions like the Capital Wheel and MGM National Harbor®, there also are plenty of things to explore right at the hotel. From the 19-story glass atrium overlooking the river and full-service spa to our seven distinct restaurants, you can experience it all. All spacious rooms are furnished with comfortable beds, flat-panel Smart TVs and mini-refrigerators. Free shuttles are provided to the MGM National Harbor and Tanger Outlets located less than 2 miles from the hotel. Enjoy some time on your own exploring the hotel or the National Harbor, 5 minutes from the hotel. At the National Harbor there are over 40 dining options and 160 retail shops. Later, we’ll depart for Nationals Park for the 6:45 pm Yankees vs. Nationals game. Seating is Baseline Reserved – Section TBA. You will be on your own for dinner at the ballpark. We will return to the hotel after the game ends.
Saturday, July 11:
A breakfast voucher is included at the hotel each morning to use at the Potomac District Market & Cafe. The best way to learn the history of an area is to see it through the eyes of a local guide. We'll meet our guide this morning in DC and embark on an unforgettable journey through our nation’s capital. Turn back the pages of history and get a feel for the spirit of our nation's founders on a half day city tour. You will view the stark, black granite walls of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and drive past Capitol Hill where laws are made, the Library of Congress, the Supreme Court, the Smithsonian Institute, the Washington, Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials, the World War II Memorial, Air Force Memorial, and the all new Martin Luther King Memorial. There will be time for visiting and photos at the memorials. Later we’ll head back to Nationals Park for the 4:05 pm Yankees vs. Nationals game. Seating is Baseline Reserved – Section TBA. You will be on your own for dinner at the ballpark. We will return to the hotel after the game ends.
Sunday, July 12:
Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning with your voucher. Today you may spend time on your own at the Smithsonian Institute, which encompasses more than a dozen different buildings. We will drop off at the National Air and Space Museum, but you may wish to visit one of the other museums. At the National Museum of American History, you will find a wealth of Americana; at the National Museum of Natural History you'll find the 45.5 carat Hope Diamond; and at the National Portrait Gallery you'll find portraits of famous Americans from the world of politics, sports, literature, stage and screen. The Smithsonian Institution Information Center, known as The Castle, the oldest of the 14 Smithsonian museums in Washington, is located at 1000 Jefferson Drive, SW, Washington, D.C. Lunch will be on your own. We will depart for home at 2pm with an approximate arrival in the Capital District at 10pm. Stops will be made each way.
