We’ll board the coach this morning, travel to Cape Cod, MA, travel over the Cape Cod Canal into Sandwich, the oldest town on Cape Cod, and have lunch on your own at Seafood Sam’s. Our local guide will meet us at Seafood Sam’s and then we’ll make a stop at the Cape Cod Canal Visitor's Center. Explore the rich history, fascinating features, and vigilant operation of the Cape Cod Canal. Learn the history of the construction of the canal from its first consideration in 1623, to 1909 when the first shovelful of earth was lifted, to its opening in 1914. Next we will visit the Cape Cod Maritime Museum where the Cape and Islands maritime past, present and future is celebrated. Experience their inspiring passion and respect for the sea and how it continues to shape Cape Cod. Welcome aboard a one-hour Hyannis Harbor Yacht Rock Cruise, with the coolest tunes of the 70s and 80s serenading your ears. That’s right, we’re talking about Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Steely Dan, and all your other favorite yacht rock artists. This isn’t your ordinary sightseeing tour. It’s a full-on sensory experience that combines breathtaking views with the mellow grooves that defined a generation. Relax, unwind, and soak up the good vibes as you see the sights in style. Next we will head to our accommodations at the Fairfield Inn (508-771-6100) in Hyannis, MA. There will be time to relax and enjoy the indoor pool or have some down time after check in.Dinner is included tonight at The Yarmouth House and your meal choices are 1) Baked Haddock 2) Chicken Piccata or 3) Braised Short Rib of Beef. Monday, July 27
After an extended continental breakfast (included), a local guide will join us as our Cape Cod summer adventure continues. We're of to the Hy-Line docks for ticketing and boarding, of the 9:00 am ferry to the island of Martha's Vineyard. Upon arrival we will board a local bus for a sightseeing tour. Learn about the history and lifestyles of the islanders as you pass through Vineyard Haven. There will be free time for lunch and shopping in the historic whaling town of Edgartown. Complete your day on the island in Oak Bluffs. You may choose to stroll through Cottage City with its brightly painted cottages and decorative gingerbread” trim. Depart the island later this afternoon, and travel to Alberto's Ristorante for dinner (included). Your entree choices are 1) Baked Scrod 2) Pork Osso Buco 3) Chicken Parmigiana or 4) Eggplant Naoletana. We will return to the hotel after dinner and your evening is free.

After your breakfast, you will check out and we will travel to the Ocean State, Rhode Island. Meet your local guide Mrs. Caroline Astor, the Grande Dame of Newport, and New York Society in the Gilded Age of the late 1800’s. Enjoy the charm of Newport’s historic buildings and restored homes on this narrated tour covering over 150 points of interest. Take in the rugged beauty of Ten-Mile Ocean Drive and the fabulous mansions along tree-lined Bellevue Avenue. Situated in the historic Armory building on the waterfront in downtown Newport, The Sailing Museum features interactive exhibits, displays chronicling the history of the sport, and galleries honoring inductees into the National Sailing Hall of Fame and the America’s Cup Hall of Fame.There will be free time for lunch on the historic downtown waterfront which is filled with cobblestone shopping wharves lined with antique stores, art galleries, specialty shops and restaurants. We will depart for home at 3pm with sand in your shoes, seashells in your pocket and many fond memories of your Yankee Trails tour to Cape Cod and Newport! Our approximate arrival in the Capital District is 7pm, one stop each way.
