FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 5,

Welcome to MASSACHUSETTS, the "Bay State" and the sandy shores of CAPE COD. Extending some 70 miles into the sea, the Cape is home to both natural beauty and quaint colonial villages. You can walk pristine beaches, revel in the arts and culture, and reclaim childhood memories of seashells, sandcastles, and saltwater taffy.

11:30 AM Meet your LOCAL GUIDE at the Sagamore Commuter Lot.
Travel over the Cape Cod Canal into SANDWICH - the oldest town on Cape Cod.
Lunch on your own at Seafood Sam's.

12:45 PM A stop will be made at the CAPE COD CANAL VISITOR'S CENTER. Explore the rich history, fascinating features, and vigilant operation of the Cape Cod Canal. Learn the history of the construction of the canal from its first consideration in 1623, to 1909 when the first shovelful of earth was lifted, to its opening in 1914.

You will then travel to HYANNIS.

3:00 PM Visit the CAPE COD MARITIME MUSEUM where the Cape and Islands maritime past, present and future is celebrated. Experience our inspiring passion and respect for the sea and how it continues to shape Cape Cod. Experience our maritime traditions and nautical history.

4:15 PM Welcome aboard a one-hour HYANNIS HARBOR CRUISE in Lewis Bay, featuring live commentary and views of the Kennedy Memorial, St. Andrews-by-the-Sea, the historic Kennedy Compound, Squaw Island and more!

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER

EXTENDED CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST is included this morning at your hotel at your leisure.

8:30 AM Your LOCAL GUIDE will meet you at your hotel and you will travel to WOODS HOLE.
Based here is the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), a private, non-profit research facility dedicated to the study of Marine science and the education of marine scientists. It is the largest independent oceanographic institution in the world. It was WHOI's research vessel, the Knorr, that found the HMS Titanic, off the coast of Newfoundland in 1985.

Check in for ticketing and boarding of passengers and coach on the 10:45 am STEAMSHIP AUTHORITY ferry to the island of MARTHA'S VINEYARD. Upon arrival at 11:30 am your guide will conduct a "DOWN ISLAND" TOUR. You will learn about the history and lifestyles of the islanders as you pass through the picturesque villages. There will be free time for lunch in the historic whaling town of Edgartown. Complete your day on the island in Oak Bluffs strolling through "Cottage City" with its brightly painted cottages and decorative "gingerbread" trim. Depart the island at 5:00 pm.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 7,

8:00 AM Depart from your hotel and travel to RHODE ISLAND, the "Ocean State".

9:30 AM Arrive in NEWPORT at the Newport Transportation Center.
Meet your LOCAL GUIDE, Mrs. Caroline Astor, the Grande Dame of Newport, and New York Society in the Gilded Age of the late 1800's. Enjoy the charm of Newport's historic buildings and restored homes on this narrated tour covering over 150 points of interest. Take in the rugged beauty of Ten-Mile Ocean Drive and the fabulous mansions along tree-lined Bellevue Avenue.

11:00 AM Admission is included to the SAILING MUSEUM. Situated in the historic Armory building on the waterfront in downtown Newport, The Sailing Museum features interactive exhibits, displays chronicling the history of the sport, and galleries honoring inductees into the National Sailing Hall of Fame and the America's Cup Hall of Fame.
Stroll Newport's famous Thames Street.

There will be free time for lunch on your own.
