Did you know that Lancaster, PA was once the capital of the United States, or that the magnificent, wooden beamed barns of Amish country are constructed in just one day? With these bits of information and a desire to learn more about the Amish, we will board the coach today and travel to Pennsylvania. On our way, we’ll head to Kitchen Kettle Village where there will be free time for shopping and browsing. There are over 40 shops jammed full of Lancaster's simple pleasures; be sure to stop by the Jam & Relish Kitchen to see Amish ladies in action as they make pickles, relishes, jams & jellies, right in the store kitchen! There are plenty of samples to try and there’s no doubt you will come away with at least a jar or two of Amish delights! Plenty of lunch options as well before we continue on to our accommodations at Country Inn of Lancaster (717-393-3413). You will have time to relax and freshen up after check-in before our family-style dinner which is included this evening at the Hershey Farm Restaurant. Savor mouth-watering PA Dutch recipes on their all you can eat Grand Smorgasbord, which features over 100 delicious items. Start with crisp salads, homemade soups, a gourmet bread bar, and a unique baked potato bar with a wide variety of toppings. Your meal also includes PA Dutch favorites and modern flavors, hand carved meats, rotisserie chicken, freshly steamed shrimp & more. Make sure you leave room for the Dessert Bar!

A continental breakfast is included at the hotel this morning and then we're off to the Sight & Sound Millennium Theatre to see the current show, Noah! With a catastrophic storm on its way, Noah is given a monumental task: build a boat big enough to save his family from a flood that will cover the entire earth. After Noah we’ll head to the AQS Quilt Show where you will enjoy a full day of quilt making! Known for recognizing the artistry of today's quilt makers with the largest cash prizes in quilting, the American Quilter's Society celebrates the art of quiltmaking by showcasing stunning masterpieces created by today's textile artists. There are a couple of dining options at the Festival as well as within walking distance of the Festival for lunch. By bringing together leading merchants, hundreds of new works of fiber art, show-stopping exhibitions, and the leading instructors in quilting, AQS QuiltWeek® is sure to inspire you to join a time-honored tradition. There will be time at the hotel to freshen up before dinner (included) tonight at Miller’s Smorgasbord. At Miller’s, they cook from scratch and prepare meals that you’ll want to tell your friends about. They get supplies like sweet corn, tomatoes, watermelon, cabbage, broccoli, squash, peppers and onions from Amos, Ben, Manny and Elmer, their Amish neighbors, whose farms surround the restaurants.

A continental breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. After breakfast we will return to the Quilt Show for another day of browsing, classes and shopping. We will leave the area at 3:00pm with an approximate arrival in the Capital District at 9:30pm. One stop each way.
