Our 2023 winter escape destination is Treasure Island, a barrier island in the Gulf of Mexico between St Pete Beach and Clearwater, Florida.  Its white sandy beaches, beautiful blue waters and gorgeous sunsets make it the perfect destination for relaxation and regeneration!  Our accommodations are all ocean front mini suites with balconies at the beautiful Bilmar Resort featuring 2 swimming pools, an on-site Sloppy Joe’s restaurant that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, a 1 mile paved oceanfront walking trail as well as many other recreational amenities to enjoy.  This tour features optional excursions and meals allowing you to be as busy or laid back and relaxed as you choose.  Options include Zoo Tampa, Tampa Watertaxi History Tour, Ringling Brothers Museum, Red Barn Flea Market, Ford and Edison Winter Retreat tour, James Museum of Western and Wildlife Art, The Suncoast Dinner Theater and much more!  Whether you’re enjoying rest and relaxation at the pool or the beautiful, white sandy beach or experiencing optional excursions, Florida’s natural beauty is waiting to welcome you with her beautiful warm sunshine and the most beautiful sunsets ever!  Ready?  Let’s Go!

Fri, February 17:

Hop aboard our deluxe motor coach with friends, old and new, as we leave for sunny Treasure Island, Florida for a spectacular getaway. We’ll travel south to our first night’s accommodations at the Comfort Suites, Fredericksburg South (540-891-1112). Dinner will be on your own at your choice of several nearby restaurants.

Sat, February 18:

A continental breakfast is included at the hotel this morning before we continue southbound and into warmer weather! Our accommodations this evening are at the Hampton Inn-Savannah Gateway hotel (912-921-5300), Savannah, GA. Dinner will be on your own this evening at your choice of nearby restaurants.

Sun, February 19:

A continental breakfast is included at the hotel this morning before our departure for the Florida state line, just ahead of us, and the completion of our journey to our accommodations at the Bilmar Beach Resort (727-360-5531). The Bilmar Resort in Treasure Island offers everything to make your vacation special and memorable. All rooms are ocean front mini suites with balconies. The Bilmar features 2 swimming pools, whirlpool spa, state of the art fitness room, 1-mile beachside walking trail, a beautiful Sun Deck and Beachside Fire Pits. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served 7 days a week at famous Sloppy Joe’s on the Beach featuring 3 outdoor decks and a spacious air conditioned dining room with live entertainment on most nights. A Publix grocery store, Walgreen’s, several shops and restaurants, including a sports bar, are all within walking distance from the hotel. The Suncoast Trolley makes a stop right in front of the hotel for trips to John’s Pass Fishing Village, Corey Avenue shopping as well as to Clearwater and St. Pete Beach. Rooms include 55” LED flat panel TV’s, microwave and mini-fridge or efficiency style kitchenettes, coffee maker and in room safes. Amenities include daily kayak and paddle board rental, 1 hour each day, beach trail bicycles, 1 hour each day, 2 beach chairs, in room bottled water, early riser coffee service, fruit infused water in lobby, sundeck recreation games and lobby business center. Dinner this evening is on your own.

Mon, February 20:

Today you are free to relax, settle in and orient yourself to the hotel and surrounding Treasure Island area as well as head to the pool and beach to relax by the sea! Our time in Treasure Island will allow you to spend each day on your own as you like, or choose any of our offered optional tours and dinner excursions. Dinner this evening is on your own.

Tues, February 21:

Optional Tour A: Zoo Tampa, Tampa, FL, where we will come face to face with amazing wildlife and make unforgettable connections. We’ll see Florida manatees receive life saving care, take a thrilling ride through Africa and more as we begin our Florida optional adventures.
Option 1: Dinner this evening will be at Quaker Steak and Lube, a delightful garage atmosphere offering an American menu in a unique, casual automotive themed restaurant. Meal choices are burgers to steaks and ribs! The car ornamentation is not to be missed. We will return to the Resort following dinner.

Wed, February 22:

Today you may choose Option B, a Tampa Bay Water Taxi History tour where your Captain and guide will tell how Tampa became a city and who made that happen as well as facts and stories of everything that surrounds us on picturesque Tampa Bay. History abounds on all sides of our water vessel.
Option 2, Dinner this evening is at Finley’s Irish Pub, Largo, FL, just a short drive up the roadways. Serving traditional American and Irish food favorites. Corned Beef and cabbage, Shepherd’s pie or Bangers and Mashed as well as other entrees are sure to delight us. We will return to the Resort following dinner.

Thurs, February 23:

Option C: Today we’ll visit the winter home of the Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus in Sarasota. The Museum is home to incredible memorabilia collected over many years that features the life and entertainment that has been enjoyed by so many at the Circus! Dinner is included with today’s option, en route to our Resort, at Mattison’s Riverwalk Grille on the Manatee River, Bradenton, a beautiful location with excellent food and ambiance galore. For those not choosing Option C, dinner is on your own this evening.

Fri, February 24:

It’s Florida Flea Market Day!! Option D, is a trip to the famous Red Barn Flea Market in Bradenton, FL. Owned and operated by the same family since 1981, the Red Barn combines a traditional flea market, plaza shops, food courts and an open air farmer’s market in a 145,000 sq. ft. “barn”. Enjoy air-conditioned, indoor shopping, fresh produce (Florida tomatoes!!), entertainment, and a variety of prepared foods. A treasure hunt waits, as you stroll through more than 600 flea market booths and shops.
Option 3: Dinner this evening is at Po Folks Restaurant, St Petersburg, where hearty, home-style cooking is served. Po Folks menu offers seafood to steaks with their specialty Southern Fried Chicken.

Sat, February 25:

Option E: Today we travel to Myakka City to see Herrmann’s Royal Lipizzan Stallions, the most rare and aristocratic breed of horses in the world whose grace and beauty will impress as they perform their classical equestrian moves at this their winter home. This ancient art of horsemanship dates back to 400 BC. Let’s enjoy these magnificent horses!
Option 4: Dinner this evening is at the Rooster Fish Grill, Largo, a casual, fun restaurant where the menu offers Florida fresh seafood ribs, beef and chicken dinners. Following dinner we will return to the Resort.

Sun, February 26:

First some free time this morning before we head out to Option E: The Suncoast Dinner Theater, for the production of “Sister Act”, where a nightclub singer is forced to take refuge from the mob in a convent and ends up turning the convent choir into a soulful Motown chorus! On arrival we begin with a delicious buffet lunch with the performance following. Upon our return to the hotel, your evening and dinner is on your own.

Mon, February 27:

Today is a free day to enjoy the Resort or follow plans of your own. Enjoy! Dinner is on your own this evening.

Tues, February 28:

Option G: Today our tour is to the James Museum of Western and Wildlife Art in St Petersburg that includes paintings, sculpture, jewelry and artifacts by 20th and 21st century artists in a collection of contemporary figurative Western paintings featuring 19th century historical narratives and works by present day artists from the Southwest, as well as a gallery featuring wildlife from around the world. The building housing this amazing collection of art is an attraction itself with its indoor waterfall.

Option 5: Dinner is at Longhorn’s Steakhouse, St Petersburg. Following dinner we will return to the Resort.

Wed, March 1:

Option H: Today we offer a tour to one of America’s most visited historic homes, the Edison-Ford Estates Winter Retreat homes in Fort Myers, where more than 20 acres of historical buildings and gardens including the Edison Botanical Research Laboratory is open for our enjoyment. Thomas Edison and Henry Ford were good friends and after Edison invited the Fords to Florida for a visit one winter, Henry Ford bought the property next door and the rest is history. Lunch is included today at Joe’s Crab Shack. Dinner this evening is on your own

Thurs, March 2:

Today is a free day to relax, explore and enjoy your last day in Treasure Island at your own pace, taking that final beach walk, or to finish packing prior to our departure. Dinner this evening is an included Pizza and Salad casual gathering hosted by your Program Director and Tour Motorcoach Driver, Judy and Doug. **We kindly request you pack an overnight bag for the next 2 nights**

Fri, March 3:

It is time to depart beautiful Treasure Island and start heading north to the Comfort Inn, Walterboro, SC just off I-95. Dinner will be on your own this evening at your choice of nearby restaurants.

Sat, March 4:

A continental breakfast will be available in the hotel lobby prior to departure. Following our drive through South and North Carolina, we will overnight at the Comfort Inn & Suites, Fredericksburg, Virginia (540-891-1112). Dinner is on your own at nearby restaurants.

Sun, March 5:

A continental breakfast will be available in the hotel lobby prior to departure. The last leg of our journey will bring us back to New York State and your homeward destinations.
