With a backdrop of over 700,000 acres of protected White Mountain National Forest and the tallest peak in the East, Mt. Washington, visitors to the North Conway New Hampshire area have many activities to choose from which span all four seasons including some of the finest skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, golfing, fishing, canoeing, camping, family attractions, scenic tours, shopping and leaf peeping in the entire country! Trains are a huge attraction in the White Mountains. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the scenic Hobo Railroad along the Pemigewasset River that takes you back to the late 1800's & early 1900's when trains were the primary way to travel throughout the region. We will also experience the Mount Washington Cog Railway, ascending up all 6,288 feet!

Sunday, July 28

We’ll board the coach this morning and travel the scenic byways to Lincoln, New Hampshire. Upon arrival we will enjoy a picnic lunch train ride on the scenic Hobo Railroad along the Pemigewasset River. Lunch choices are as follows: 1) Roast Beef Sandwich 2) Turkey Sandwich, or 3) Chicken Salad Sandwich. Sandwiches are served on a roll with cheese and the condiments are on the side along with a bag of chips, chocolate chip cookie, beverage, and a Hobo Souvenir Pack! . After our delightful train excursion we will travel to our accommodations at the Mountain Club on Loon Resort & Spa (800-229-7829). A pass to the gondola on Loon is included should you wish to ride to the top of the summit for spectacular views after check in. This evening at the resort, you will have free time to relax and enjoy the amenities such as the heated outdoor pool and hot tubs and free Wi-Fi. Dinner tonight will be on your own; check out the The Black Diamond Pub located on property, or we will provide transportation into Woodstock.

Monday, July 29

A buffet breakfast is included at the resort this morning. The Mount Washington Cog Railway is the first mountain-climbing cog railway in the world and is designated a National Historic Landmark. Offering both environmentally friendly biodiesel locomotives and vintage coal fired steam engines, the Mount Washington Cog Railway is a premier destination for visitors to the White Mountains Region of New Hampshire. Today we will sit back and relax as this marvel of 19th century technology and modern innovation takes us on an exhilarating voyage through mountain landscapes and nature. Beginning at Marshfield Base Station, the train climbs more than 6,000 feet to Mount Washington State Park. Here you will have time on your own to visit the gift shop, snack bar, the historic Tip Top House, the Mount Washington Observatory and Summit Museum. On a clear day you can see all the way to the Atlantic Ocean! After our one-of-a-kind journey, we will spend some time in North Conway. Shop at local hand-craft, antique and gift shops and enjoy the local cuisine in one of the nearly 100 area restaurants and cafes. We will depart at 3pm with an approximate arrival in the Capital District at 9pm. One stop each way.
