Sun., August 28th:
We set our sights on The Outer Banks and the Low Country as we board the coach and head south to Virginia and our overnight accommodations tonight at the Comfort Suites Fredericksburg South (540-891-1112) in Fredericksburg, VA. We kindly request that passengers pack an overnight bag for this one night, as the baggage will not be removed from the coach. You will be responsible for bringing the carry-on to your room.
Mon., August 29th:
A hot breakfast is included at the hotel and then we will travel to your North Carolina hotel on the Outer Banks. We will have lunch on our own enroute to Carolla, SC before we arrive at the Hampton Inn and Suites (410-289-1470). The hotel is located right on Corolla's northern beach, moments from Audubon Pine Island Sanctuary. Currituck Beach Lighthouse, wild horse tours, and Duck’s restaurants are a 10-minute drive away. Amenities include indoor and outdoor pools, a whirlpool, and lazy river. Free WiFi, daily hot breakfast, and a fitness center access will complete your stay. After we freshen up, we will depart for our included dinner at Mike Dianna’s Grille Room. We will then return to the hotel and have time to relax and the night is at your leisure.
Tues., August 30th:
A full breakfast is (included) in the lobby area of the hotel each morning. Next our local guide and depart for Corolla Outdoor Adventures. Climb aboard your open air vehicle and begin your exciting guided tour with local lore, ecology and legends. You will cover up to 20 miles of pristine beach where you may see surfing dolphins, deer & boar, and the "Banker" ponies who roam free across the beaches. You will have the chance to get up close and personal with them and enjoy a wonderful photo opportunity! Enjoy lunch and shopping on your own at the Timbuck II Shopping Village before we return to the hotel for free time to make the most of the hotel’s amenities. Tonight, dive into a fabulous all you care to eat dinner buffer (included) at the popular Captain George’s Restaurant. There’s something delicious for everyone to savor, featuring everything from beef to seafood.
Wed., August 31st:
After breakfast we will meet our local guide and depart for a tour of Corolla. View the Currituck Beach Lighthouse and visit the gift shop. Next, half the group will tour the fascinating and historic Whalehead Club & Exhibit Gallery and the other half will visit the OBX Center for Wildlife Education Center featuring an introductory film and fine exhibits (we will then switch museums). Lunch will be on your own in the quaint town of Duck, followed by free time for browsing at the popular "Scarborough Faire'' shops before we return to the hotel. A wonderful dinner is included tonight at The Black Pelican Restaurant (Menu TBA)
Thu.,September 1st:
After breakfast our local guide will meet us and we’re off to Kill Devil Hills, NC. Visit the Wright Brothers National Memorial which features educational information and displays. Walk to the memorial site for some great photo opportunities! Lunch and browsing will be on your own in beautiful downtown Manteo along the waterfront. Next we’ll arrive at Roanoke Island Festival Park and visit the Roanoke Island Adventure Museum and the Outdoor Living Museum of the Settlement site & the life of the early explorers on the island. Visit the Elizabeth II, a small wooden vessel (docked) where you will be greeted by docents in period costumes. Next we will spend time at the Roanoke Island Aquarium & observe a beautiful variety of underwater life. Dinner is included tonight at Pamlico Jack’s restaurant in Nag’s Head (Menu TBA)
Fri., September 2nd:
We will enjoy a farewell breakfast this morning and depart the Outer Banks for our overnight accommodations at the Comfort Suites Fredericksburg, VA (540-891-1112) . Dinner is on your own tonight.
Sat., September 3rd:
A hot breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. We’ll then depart for the Capital District with an approximate arrival at 6pm. Stops will be made each way.
