Canada’s Maritime Provinces offer the most amazing scenery, fresh salt air, sandy beaches, majestic mountains, rustic fishing villages, rocky coves, and remote lighthouses that beckon visitors from all over the world with the province of Nova Scotia being a premier destination.  On this tour we will travel to Bangor, Maine enroute to the Bay of Fundy, known for its extremely high tides and natural attractions.  We’ll traverse the engineering marvel, The Confederation Bridge, that carries the Trans-Canada Highway across the Northumberland Strait.  There will be stays in Prince Edward Island and Cape Breton with visits to the Green Gables Museum and the Cabot Trail.  Halifax and quaint Peggy’s Cove, the Citadel and Gran Pre National Historic Site will end our Canadian portion. Acadia National Park in Maine will mark a beautiful ending to a majestic and memorable tour!  Let’s Go!  The Maritimes are waiting for you!

Wed., September 18:

We board the coach this morning and we’ll spend our day traveling northeast. A lunch stop and rest stops will be made on route to Central Maine where upon arrival we will go to our accommodations at the Holiday Inn in Bangor, ME (207) 947-0101. A buffet dinner is included tonight at the hotel. After dinner the rest of your evening is free.

Thurs., September 19

Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning and we will then continue on to our first Canadian destination, Moncton, New Brunswick.. After our boarding crossing in Calais, New Brunswick, we will stop at Hopewell Rocks Provincial Park on the Bay of Fundy with lunch included. The Hopewell Rocks is one of New Brunswick’s top attractions. Walk on the ocean floor in the shadows of the majestic “flower-pot rocks”, unique formations carved by erosion over thousands of years. Time and tide have carved from the cliffs distinctive sandstone formations topped with trees. During periods of low tide, you can walk 2 km of beach and explore several coves. Moncton is also home to a phenomenal attraction, Magnetic Hill where our own eyes will deceive us! Following our time at the park we will check into our accommodations at The Amsterdam Inn (506-383-5050). A buffet dinner is included tonight at the Casino New Brunswick located next door to the hotel.

Fri., September 20:

A lobby breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. Enroute to Charlottetown, PEI, we will depart for the Confederation Bridge. The Confederation Bridge spans the Abegweit Passage of Northumberland Strait in the North Atlantic Ocean. It links Prince Edward Island with mainland New Brunswick, Canada. Before its official naming, Prince Edward Islanders often referred to the bridge as the "Fixed Link" . There will be time on your own for lunch in Charlottetown followed by a visit to The Confederation Arts Center where the story of Confederation is presented, telling Prince Edward Islands’ story in the history of Canada. A harborfront dinner is included this evening before our arrival to our accommodations for the next two nights, at the Rodd Royalty Hotel (902-894-8566) in Charlottetown, PEI.

Sat., September 21:

A lobby breakfast is included at the hotel. Today is Anne of Green Gables day! A tour guide will join us for narration as we journey up the northern seacoast to the home of Lucy Maude Montgomery’s family home where descendants Pam and George Campbell share carriage rides, potato planting demos, tea and cookies, and stories of the history of their home with the thousands of visitors who visit The Green Gables Museum. Lunch is included today at Chez Yvonne before a stop at Green Gables Heritage Place where you will feel the nostalgia of the stories that were based on this locale. Next, we’ll visit the fishing village of North Rustico and the Prince Edward Island Preserve Company to sample their tasty jams and jellies. Dinner is included tonight at The Old Triangle Irish Pub in Charlottetown where Irish grub and beers are the feature of the evening. We will return to our hotel following dinner.

Sun., September 22:

Breakfast is included at the hotel before we depart PEI heading for the ferry across the Northumberland Strait to Pictou, Nova Scotia. Here we’ll visit the Hector Heritage Quay, home to the full size tall ship replica that brought the first Scottish emigrants from Scotland to Nova Scotia. As we continue on to Cape Breton, a lunch stop will be made at a Tim Horton’s before our arrival at the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site. To escape the notoriety and popularity of his time, Alexander Graham Bell discovered Baddeck, Nova Scotia and retreated to this beautiful place where he built a beautiful estate. We will explore the Bell Historic Site before our check in at the beautiful Inverary Resort (800-565-5660). You will have free time and an included dinner (TBA) tonight.

Mon., September 23:

Breakfast is included at the resort this morning. Cameras ready!!! The day will start with a visit to Les Trois Pignon, a cultural center in Cheticamp (Latin for New Scotland) where descendants of early settlers will greet us and explain their shop and wares and the resilience of early settlers before we begin our tour of the Cabot Trail, one of the most amazing scenic drives anywhere in the world. Rocky coastlines, incredible plateaus, mountains meeting the sea and the shimmering waters of the Gulf of St Lawrence make this a very special day! Dinner is included at the resort tonight. The rest of the evening is free.

Tues., September 24:

Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning before we depart for Peggy's Cove in Halifax, Nova Scotia, one of the most picturesque fishing villages along the Eastern seaboard. There will be time to explore this working fishing village and artists haven and browse through the quaint craft and gift stores. Lunch is included at the Sou’Wester Gift & Restaurant. Our accommodations for the next two nights are at the Hotel Halifax (902-425-6700) With direct access to the Downtown Halifax Link pedways network, this refined business hotel is a 5-minute walk from both the Casino Nova Scotia. Dinner is included at the hotel tonight.

Wed., September 25:

A full breakfast is included this morning. Today we will embark on a tour of this historic port city with a local guide who will share Halifax's incredible history from its early beginnings as a Colonial Fort to its present role as an international meeting site and the economic center of the Atlantic Provinces. Did you know that Halifax sends Boston a Christmas tree every year in appreciation? We’ll learn why. We will hear stories of Halifax during the war years, including the Halifax Explosion and the city's role in the recovery operations after the Titanic disaster. The tour will include the waterfront, historic downtown, St. Paul's Church, the universities, shopping and residential areas as well as Fairview Cemetery where we will visit and learn why graves of Titanic passengers are located in Halifax. After our tour, the rest of the day will be on our own.

Thurs., September 29

A full breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. Today we make stops of historical significance. First is the Mi’kmaq Millbrook Cultural Center where the story of the first people recorded in Maine is kept. We will have time to participate in a spiritual cleansing as well as explore the many exhibits and crafts that are representative of Mi’kmaq today. There will be free time for lunch on your own before we continue on to the Gran Pre National Historic Site. Gran Pre is the site of the expulsion of the Acadians made famous in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem Evangeline. We will have some free time to explore Gran Pre paying respects to the historic events that occurred here. Upon departing Gran Pre, we will visit a Farmer's Market as we make our way to Digby to take the ferry across to St. John's, New Brunswick! Dinner is on your own onboard the Ferry. We will check into our accommodations at the Hotel Chateau in St. John's (506-644-4444). Dinner is on your own onboard the ferry.

Fri., September 27:

Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. First stop for the day is the Reversing Falls in St. John, New Brunswick where at low tide, the force of the Bay of Fundy reverses the flow of the mighty St John River. Today we travel south, crossing the US/Canada border returning to the USA. Our next stop will be Bar Harbor, Maine with time for browsing and lunch on your own before we continue to Acadia National Park and a visit to Cadillac Mountain. Dinner will be included en route to our overnight accommodations at the Comfort Inn Ellsworth-Bar Harbor (207-667-1345), in Ellsworth, Maine.

Sat., September 28:

After breakfast (included) our journey is complete and takes us home. Appropriate rest stops will be made and our approximate arrival in the Capital District is 5:00pm.
