America is the beautiful!  From sea to shining sea! Join us as we make a journey that will be memorable forever!  Take in the majesty of this great country, on the ground, seeing and appreciating the magnificent and differing landscape that the USA gives us, it is incomparable!  We begin with a cross country flight to our city of origin – Portland, Oregon and meet our Yankee Trails motor coach.  We will immediately drive to the Pacific Coast’s Ocean Highway and our oceanfront destination, Newport, Oregon.  Buckle up – here we go!  Our first visit is the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area where dune buggies will take us up, over and down the amazing and immense sand dunes that are miles in depth and width.  We will head back to Portland and Seattle, Washington for tours that include Multnomah Falls, Pikes Place Market, the Space Needle and so much more.  We start across the USA heading east to Missoula, Butte and Billings, Montana and with visits to the World Museum of Mining, the commemorative monument at Little Bighorn Battlefield and our country’s first national monument, Devil’s Tower before we reach Deadwood, South Dakota, a well preserved “Old West Gold Mining Town” with a wealth of history. A tour in Deadwood includes visits to the graves of Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane.  Our next stops are the incredible monument to our presidents, Mt. Rushmore, and the revered Sioux Indian Chief, Crazy Horse, as well as the land “Where the buffalo roam” Custer State Park and its bewitching beauty is the last remaining expanse of wild prairie in the Badlands!  Other iconic must sees are the Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD, the Jolly Green Giant in Blue Earth, Minnesota and continuing to Spring Green, Wisconsin and The House on the Rock.  Midwest Chicago will bring us face to face with the “Gangster and Prohibition Era” with a visit to another iconic venue, Tommy Gun’s Garage where we’ll enjoy dinner and theater.  Our last stop before home is the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland!  And…you have travelled from the Pacific Ocean, across the northern and central plains, through the Midwest and back to our industrial northeast!  What an amazing and incredible journey!  Everyone should see this country, eye level, from our motor coach windows!  There is nothing more spectacular and American than traveling with us cross country! Tuseday July 28th:

Today our motor coach takes us to Newark’s Liberty Airport and our non-stop flight to Portland, Oregon where on arrival we will board our Yankee Trails motor coach and drive to the Pacific Ocean and our overnight oceanfront accommodations at The Best Western Plus Agate Beach Inn, Newport, Oregon (541-265-9411). There is a restaurant on property and dinner will be on your own this evening.

Wednesday July 29th:

Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. A short drive down the Pacific Highway brings us to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area where our group will experience exhilarating dune buggy rides, over the dunes and to the Pacific Ocean Beach at this impressive natural wonder. Following a stop for lunch on your own, we will return to Portland, OR and our accommodations for the next two evenings at the Red Lion Hotel on the River -Jantzen Beach (503-283-4466). Dinner is on your own this evening.

Thursday July 30th:

Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. A step on guide will join us today to show us the wonders of Portland including their International Rose Test Garden (you have never seen such beautiful roses!), the Portland Japanese Garden and the magnificent and awe-inspiring Multnomah Falls as we travel the Columbia River Highway. We will return to the hotel for a rest break and dinner this evening is included at the Old Spaghetti Factory.

Friday July 31st:

Breakfast is included at our hotel this morning. Today we make our way to Seattle, Washington, home to the world famous, Pike’s Place Market, home of the flying fish! There will be time on arrival to explore the market, and have lunch, on your own, before we are joined by our step on guide to meet and greet Seattle, famous for her houseboats and of course, Starbucks Coffee! Our day will conclude with a visit to Seattle’s incredible Space Needle with views of mountains, ocean and city! Our accommodations this evening are at the Holiday Inn, Issaquah, WA. Dinner is included at the hotel this evening.

Saturday August 1:

Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning, and then we are off to cross the states of Washington and Idaho and reach our overnight accommodations at the Courtyard by Marriott (406-549-5260) in Missoula, MT. Our day will include unimaginable panoramas and unending giant skies of blue. Montana is Big Sky Country from the mountains in the west to the prairie in the east. Today will be a feast and love affair for the eyes, heart and soul, and we cross the Continental Divide too! Dinner is included this evening at the Montana Club.

Sunday August 2nd:

The Courtyard by Marriott offers different breakfast choices for your purchase at The Bistro in their lobby before our morning departure and visit to the World Museum of Mining in Butte, MT. Butte’s early days centered on cooper mining. We will explore the evolution of mining and its impact, as well as experience our own underground mining experience. The site of the Orphan Girl Mine is rich with history. We then continue to our overnight accommodations at the Country Inn and Suites (406-245-9995) in Billings, MT. Tonight dinner is included and it will be pizza night at the MacKenzie River Pizza Grill.

Monday August 3rd:

A lobby breakfast is included at the hotel. Our day begins with a memorable visit to the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument where Lt Colonel George Custer and his men took their last stand against the Lakota, Arapaho and Northern Cheyenne fleeing the constraints of their Reservation lives. We’ll continue to the USA’s first national monument, Devil’s Tower, a huge monolith that resembles a gigantic tree stump! We will continue on to our overnight accommodations in Deadwood, SD at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites-Gold Dust Casino, (605-580-1629) . Dinner is on your own this evening.

Tuesday August 4th:

Breakfast is included at the hotel. Our day in the “Old West’s Gold Rush Mining Town” of Deadwood will include a guided mini bus tour of historic Main Street, it’s stories and, of course, a stop at Mount Moriah Cemetery, better known as “Boot Hill” Cemetery to pay respects to Wild Bill Hickok and his pal, Calamity Jane. Deadwood was a haven for gambler’s and gun fighters. You too can sit in the saloon where Wild Bill was shot! Following our tour, the rest of the day is yours to relax and enjoy some free time. Dinner this evening is on your own.

Wednesday August 5th

Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. After a short drive we will come face to face with one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Mount Rushmore National Memorial. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln make up this world-famous “Shrine of Democracy”, one of the largest pieces of sculpture ever created. Visiting this Memorial is an absolute must as we Cross the USA! We will continue to the Crazy Horse Memorial and Museum, a nine-story-high tribute to the legendary Sioux leader and chief, a work still in progress funded solely through private donation. Our next stop on our magnificent Black Hills of South Dakota journey is Custer State Park to see the largest assemblage of buffalo in the USA. This is where ”the deer, antelope & buffalo play”! After checking into our accommodations at the Holiday Inn – Keystone, we will return to Mt Rushmore for dinner (included) and the Mt Rushmore Evening Lighting Ceremony. DRESS WARM!!

Thursday August 6th:

Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. Today’s first stop is the iconic Wall Drug Store in Wall, SD, a long time watering hole on cross-country trips! A plethora of everything is available at Wall’s! Leaving Wall’s, prepare to be awed by the unique, majestic and stunning scenery offered at Badlands National Park. This landscape, both barren and beautiful, is full of colors, roses, golds, greens…..created by natural erosion. It is breath taking! As we drive the Loop Road, we’ll stop for photos and an on your own lunch bite at the Visitor’s Center before we leave the Park. Our next stop is the world’s only Corn Palace, a tribute to the agricultural heritage of South Dakota. The murals, all of corn and grain, must be seen! Our overnight accommodations are at the Hampton Inn, (605-995-1575). Dinner is included, next door, at Ruby Tuesday’s.

Friday August 7th:

A hotel lobby breakfast is included this morning. Today is a driving day as we leave South Dakota and cross southern Minnesota. We will make a photo stop at the Statue of the Jolly Green Giant, planned to be a roadside attraction before I 90 by passed Blue Earth, but still erected, standing vigil and representing our Midwest vegetables. We’ll see the beautiful central prairie land before reaching Spring Green, Wisconsin and our accommodations at the House on the Rock Resort (608-588-3711). Dinner is included at the hotel this evening.

Saturday August 8th:

Breakfast is included at the Resort this morning. Our day begins with our visit to the breath-taking and famous House on the Rock. A conflict of interest between the architect, Alex Jordan, and his neighbor, Frank Lloyd Wright, lead to the building and creation of this amazing property where wonders, collections, views and beauty are astounding. A 375 foot ramp through treetops takes visitors to the entrance of the House where a bell gallery, waterfalls, massive fireplaces and walls of rock can be seen. Extensive collections of interesting and unique memorabilia fill its many rooms. The 14th room was added in 1985 and proves to be the most spectacular, the INFINITY ROOM. with walls of glass, it projects out 218 feet over the Wyoming Valley. Leaving Spring Green we leave Wisconsin and head for Chicago and our overnight accommodations at the Hyatt Regency at McCormick Place, Chicago (402-593-6018). When in Chicago, we do recall the crazy days of prohibition, gangsters and dolls…..all found at our ever so entertaining dinner and theater venue, Tommy Gun’s Garage”! We will enjoy a night to delight and feel like gangsters and dolls ourselves! Tommy Gun’s is so much fun!

Sunday August 9th:

Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. We will be leaving the mid-west and move toward the great northeast stopping in Cleveland, Ohio for one last great attraction, The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame on the shores of Lake Erie, a museum and hall of fame that documents and honors the history of rock music, it’s artists, producers and all who have influenced this genre of music. You will have time to explore your favorite performers, from Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Buddy Holly and Elvis to Fleetwood Mac, The Mamas and the Papas. Bruce Springsteen….the list goes on and on… From The Hall of Fame, we travel up the road to Mentor, Ohio and our overnight accommodations and your included dinner at the Holiday Inn- Mentor (440-951-7333).

Monday August 10th:

Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. And our Cross the USA journey is reaching its conclusion. We have travelled almost, coast to coast and seen some of this country’s most venerable and impressive sights! America truly is beautiful! Your memories made will be with you for a lifetime! Arrival in the Capital District will be approximately 5:30 PM We hope you join us on this remarkable experience!
