Legendary Newport, RI is a unique combination of location, variety and scenery.  Newport is considered the “Grand Dame.”  A city with a past, Newport recalls its Colonial and Victorian days with its month-long Christmas celebration, "Christmas in Newport."  The glitter of gold and the sparkle of silver will dazzle you as you tour two magnificent mansions decked out in Yuletide finery, The Breakers, The Elms and Christmas at Blithewold Estate!  The Breakers and Elms- two National Historic Landmarks and icons of the Gilded Age in America--are filled with thousands of poinsettias, fresh flowers, evergreens and wreaths. Decorated trees reflecting individual room decor anchor many of the magnificent spaces. At The Elms, a 15 foot tall poinsettia "tree" is made up of approximately 150 individual red poinsettia plants. Dining tables set with period silver and china complete the elegant setting. And windows of each mansion are lit with individual white candles, in keeping with the colonial tradition. Blithewold Estate, in Bristol, Rhode Island, is nationally significant in American history as one of the most fully-developed and intact examples of the Country Place Era in the United States, and for its high artistic value in representing the influence of the Arts and Crafts movement in this country and will be transformed into a dazzling display celebrating the magic of Christmas.  You can be a part of the rich tapestry of American history as you come to treasure the legacy of the Newport Mansions and Blithewold Estate on this memorable holiday tour!
