Did you know that Lancaster, PA was once the capital of the United States, or that the magnificent, wooden beamed barns of Amish country are constructed in just one day? With these bits of information and a desire to learn more about the Amish, we will board the coach today and travel to Pennsylvania. Upon our arrival in Lancaster we will go to accommodations at Country Inn of Lancaster (717-393-3413). You will have time to relax and freshen up after check in. An all you can eat buffet dinner is included this evening at the Miller’s Smorgasbord. This award winning smorgasbord features mouth-watering American favorites as well as their own distinctive Heritage Dishes and bakery-fresh desserts...chilled steamed shrimp, top sirloin, breast of turkey, golden fried chicken, baked ham and fish, chicken corn soup, baked cabbage, bakery fresh cheesecake, shoo-fly pie, gourmet apple pie, and much more. After dinner we’re off to the Sight & Sound Millennium Theatre to see the all new show Queen Esther. Set in the opulent yet perilous Persian Empire, QUEEN ESTHER is a captivating tale of beauty and bravery. Esther’s ordinary life changed forever when she was taken through the palace doors, entering a new world of royalty and risk. With a crown on her head and a secret in her heart, can she find the courage to trust in God’s plan and believe that she was made for such a time as this? Experience one of the most riveting Bible stories of the Old Testament as it comes to life with magnificent sets, special effects and live animals in this brand-new, original stage production!

A full breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. A local guide will then join us for a 3 hour Amish Farmlands tour. Travel the scenic byways through the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country to see a slice of rural life.Visit with the Lapp family inside of their home where Anna and her girls will make some snacks and drinks for you while you sit and talk and get to know the family. Once our snack visit is over, our guide will continue into the countryside and talk about the Amish customs and traditions. Pass by several one room schoolhouses which are still being used today by the Amish children. Maybe we'll be lucky enough to see Amish working in the fields or Amish horse and buggies on the roads. After touring through the Amish farmlands we will enjoy lunch (included) in an Amish home. Look forward to a family style meal of two meats, three vegetables, homemade bread, and delicious homemade desserts. We will dine with Sam Lapp and his sons while Ruth and the girls serve us a family style meal. Yes, the family will be dining with us! Following lunch we'll head over to Kitchen Kettle Village where there will be free time for shopping and browsing There are 40 shops jammed full of Lancaster's simple pleasures; be sure to stop by the Jam & Relish Kitchen to see Amish ladies in action as they make pickles, relishes, jams & jellies, right in the store kitchen!
