The highly requested Albuquerque Balloon Festival is an event like no other!  It is an enchanted world of special shaped balloons, dynamic colors, spectacular early morning mass accessions, twilight balloon glows, and fireworks that are all sights to behold and remember forever!  This incredible journey offers the splendid locations of Santa Fe. Albuquerque and many more! We begin with a flight to Denver, CO where we will be met by our own Yankee Trails motor coach and enjoy a tour of Denver.  Following a visit at Garden of the Gods, a National Natural Landmark and the #1 must see in Colorado, we will continue to Santa Fe, NM with its pueblo style architecture, winding, crooked streets, amazing colors and incredible landmarks and museums such as the renowned Palace of the Governors, now home to the New Mexico History Museum as well as many, many artistic vendors.  En route to Albuquerque we will visit Acoma Pueblo, the oldest continuously inhabited community in the United States dating back 2,000 years and hear the stories of the ancient Puebloan people.  Continuing to the Sandia Resort and Casino, our Balloon Festival experience begins!  An early start takes us to the Balloon fields for breakfast and the spectacular Balloon Mass Accessions, followed by a step on guided tour of Albuquerque and her Route 66 heritage, a visit to Old Town, a return to the Balloon fields for dinner and the Evening Glow and fireworks to end a full day! Next, our path will follow Route 66 to Amarillo and a Cowgirl and Cowboy breakfast,  Oklahoma City, St. Louis and the Gateway Arch , Louisville and the Louisville Slugger Museum and Cleveland and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame before we arrive back in New York State! We are looking forward to making this  magnificent journey with you!

 

ALERT!! PLEASE READ!!

Starting October 1, 2020, every state and territory resident will need to present a REAL ID-compliant license/ID or another acceptable form of identification (like a passport or passport card) for accessing federal facilities — including boarding commercial aircraft.

Most states and territories have already begun issuing the new licenses, so you will have until October 1, 2020 to obtain a REAL ID compliant license. So just check your license to be sure.

Tuesday Oct 6th

We will travel by Yankee Trails motor coach to Newark Liberty International Airport for our AM flight to Denver, CO. On arrival we will be met by our Yankee Trails driver and motor coach and be joined by a step on tour guide for an introductory tour of Denver. Our accommodations for the evening are at the Drury Inn*, Stapleton, CO (303-373-1983) with light eats included at the Drury Kickback.

Wednesday, Oct 7th:

Following our Drury Inn breakfast, we are off to the Garden of the Gods, whose outstanding features are the ancient sedimentary beds of deep-red pink and white sandstones, conglomerates and limestone that were deposited horizontally, but have been tilted vertically and faulted into “fins” by the immense mountain building forces caused by the uplift of the Rocky Mountains and the Pike’s Peak massif. We will continue on to our accommodations for the next two nights at the Historic Hilton Santa Fe Plaza (505-986-6416). Dinner is included this evening at the hotel.

Thursday Oct 8th:

Following an included breakfast at the hotel, we will be joined by a step on tour guide who will introduce us the beauty and culture of Santa Fe. Following our tour we will return to the hotel, which is centrally located just off the Plaza in historic Santa Fe! You will have free time to enjoy the area, museums and dinner on your own.

Friday, Oct 9th:

Following an included breakfast at the hotel, we will depart for the Acoma Pueblo, the oldest continuously inhabited community in the United States. The majesty of the setting is picturesque and amazing. A guide will lead us through the village with examples of the lives of the Puebloan people of ancient times as well as of today. This is an incredible, historical and spiritual place to visit. Leaving the Pueblo, we will reach Albuquerque and stop, for a change of pace and more history, at the Route 66 Diner for an included lunch. After lunch we will check into our accommodations for the next two evenings at the Sandia Resort and Casino, which is within view of the Balloon Festival fields! Dinner this evening is on your own at the Resort. Early to bed! We will have an early start tomorrow!

Saturday, Oct 10th:

Our day will begin with a 4:30 AM departure for the Balloon Festival to assure our presence for the early morning Mass Ascension and breakfast in Chaser’s Lounge in our reserved area at the Balloon fields. This incredible sight will enthrall and amaze you and you have direct access onto the field to walk among the balloons, the pilots and teams assisting with launching these vibrant, colorful and interesting balloons. Midmorning we will leave the Balloon fields with our step on guide who will “Show and Tell” the Route 66 story as well as other sights and stories of Albuquerque. Our tour will end in Old Town where old Albuquerque comes alive with quaint pueblo homes, stores and restaurants. You will have time for lunch on your own before we return to the hotel for nap, freshening and rest before we return to the Balloon Festival for the fabulous Evening Glow where the balloons are inflated and do periodic lighting shows for our total enjoyment. Dinner is included at Chaser’s Lounge on the field followed by fireworks to end our evening. We will then return to the hotel.

Sunday, Oct 11th:

Following breakfast at the Resort, we are off to follow Route 66 to iconic Amarillo, Texas! So much of the architecture reminiscent of the Route 66 era still stands in Amarillo. We will be joined by a step on guide who will again “Show and Tell” all we need to see and understand about Amarillo along with a surprise stop just for fun. Our accommodations this evening are at the Drury Inn*, Amarillo (806-351-1111). Dinner this evening is included at the must do Big Texan Steakhouse, home of the “If you can eat it (72oz steak), you don’t have to pay for it! Of course, we will be enjoying a predetermined group dinner menu!!!

Monday, Oct 12th:

Departure from the hotel will be early as we are travelling to a true western ranch for breakfast with the Cowgirls and Cowboys of the West! Our host, Phyllis, is an incredible representation of a true Texas cowgirl who will regal you with her stories of life in early and present day Amarillo both as a settler and early rancher. Following breakfast we will continue on Route 66 to Oklahoma City with a short stop at the Oklahoma City National Memorial before continuing on to our overnight accommodations at the Hard Rock Casino, Catoosa (Tulsa), OK (800-760-6700). (We have to eat and sleep somewhere!)

Tuesday, Oct 13th:

Following breakfast at the Hard Rock, we continue our journey up Route 66 to St. Louis, MO. On arrival, in addition to magnificent photo opportunities, our stop will include visiting the Museum for a glimpse of St Louis’ early history, viewing an excellent documentary about building the Arch and an optional “Ride to the Top” of the Arch. Leaving the Arch we check into the Drury Inn* Gateway Arch (314-231-3003), 2 blocks away. Evening eats will be at the Drury Kickback or your choice of a local restaurant on your own.

Wednesday, Oct 14th:

Following our Drury Inn breakfast we leave Route 66 and travel to Louisville, KY where an included lunch at the Bistro Bar & Grill and a visit to the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory where the #1 bat in baseball is crafted. See the world’s largest baseball bat and enjoy our guided, award winning tour where you will see bat making in progress and learn of legendary contracts with this some of baseball’s most famous players. Our accommodations this evening are at the Drury Inn* East, Louisville, KY (502-326-4170). Evening eats will be at the Drury Kickback or you may choose a nearby restaurant for dinner on your own.

Thursday, Oct 15th:

Following our Drury Inn breakfast our journey continues to Cleveland, OH and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. From Elvis to Dick Clark’s American Bandstand to the Hall of Fame’s Wall of Inductees, this is an experience that will have the music bring back the memories of your life! Tonight we will check into the Holiday Inn, Mentor, OH (440-951-7333). A Farewell Buffet Dinner is included at the hotel this evening.

Thursday, Oct 16th:

Following breakfast at the Holiday Inn this day completes our Albuquerque Balloon Festival and More Journey as we travel the NYS Thruway to the Capital District with an arrival of approximately 5:00 PM. The vivid colors of Santa Fe, Albuquerque and the Balloon Festival as well as our Route 66 stops and other wonderful places of interest have made this, truly, a Journey to Remember! Making new friends, reconnecting with old friends we’ve made on Yankee Trails tours, seeing such amazing and wonderful American sights and attractions is truly a wonderful experience. We invite y’all to come on along. Ready? Let’s Go!!
