Friday, August 17:

We will board the coach this morning and head toward Philadelphia, PA. A lunch stop will be made en route. Upon our arrival, we’ll go to the National Constitution Center. The Center, located on Independence Mall, is dedicated to increasing public understanding of the U.S. Constitution and its relevance to Americans’ daily lives. Lunch will be on your on in the food court at the center. This afternoon, we will view “Freedom Rising,” which is a state-of-the-art multimedia theater experience dedicated to connecting visitors with the story of the U.S. Constitution - sure to be an unforgettable experience. Our accommodations at the Courtyard Marriott Philadelphia City Avenue (215-220-6426) which features an indoor pool. Tonight, dinner is included at the City Tavern where you’ll enjoy an authentic colonial ambiance. Your meal choices 1) Martha Washington’s Turkey Pot Pie or 2) Beef Pot Pie, both are accompanied by a Tavern Country Salad, bread, dessert, coffee & tea. At approximately 7pm we will venture to Independence Hall where we’ll join a Colonial Guide for an Independence After Hours tour. Step back in time to the summer of 1776 and get a behind-the-scenes look at the events that shaped our nation’s history. You may even encounter a Founding Father or two! We will return to the hotel after our tour.

Saturday, August 18:

A continental breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. Today a local guide will join us for an optional a 3-hour tour of Philly. Highlights will include the Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross House, Congress Hall, Franklin Court, Carpenter's Hall, and Christ Church. On the tour, lunch is included at Philly's Gourmet Steaks. Your meal choices are 1) Philly Cheesesteak, 2) Chicken Cheesesteak, or 3) Veggie Cheesesteak & all come with fries, soda and a goodie. Following lunch, we will return to the hotel you will be on your own for the remainder of the day. We will provide transportation into the city center for the evening for those wishing to explore the city on their own. There are plenty of dinner options there as well as quite a few within walking distance of the hotel.

Sunday, August 19:

A continental breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. A local guide will join us on a 90-minute drive though the city. We'll drive along the Ben Franklin Parkway, see Rocky’s Steps, and pass by the magnificent buildings, including Philadelphia's City Hall, the largest in the country, with a 36-foot bronze statue of William Penn on top. We will also drive though Antique Row and Society Hill. After our tour, we will enjoy free time for lunch and shopping in Head House Square (the South Street area). We will leave the area after lunch at 2pm, with an approximate arrival in the Capital District at 8pm. One stop each way.
