Our beloved Eleanor Roosevelt once wrote: “The purpose of life...is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”  We will certainly live by those words today.  Told from many angles, the story of the Roosevelt presidency—from the Great Depression through the New Deal years and World War II—is presented here in vivid and tangible fashion. Spend the morning on a guided tour of the Springwood estate, and an immersive experience at America's first presidential library, Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum in Hyde Park, NY.  Just down the road is Dassai Blue Sake Brewery, a new state-of-the-art brewery and the first major sake brewing facility in the northeast.  Today we will be treated to a tour led by a sake expert and a tasting of three (3) Dassai Blue sakes.  Also included is a small charcuterie plate from local deli, The Corner Counter.  Next we will head to the Eveready Diner for lunch on your own.  The Eveready Diner has been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives with Guy Fieri on The Food Network and is a classic diner and soda fountain offering everything from all-day breakfast, NY Deli-style sandwiches, burgers and steaks and chops as well as shakes, malts and classic diner desserts.  Finally, we'll walk off our lunch at the Walkway Over the Hudson.  Spanning the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie, this pedestrian bridge opened in 2009 began as the longest bridge in the world when it was first built as a railway bridge in 1889 and remains the world's longest elevated pedestrian bridge.  Enjoy breathtaking river and mountain views, fresh air and scenic Hudson Valley vistas.
