A continental breakfast is included this morning and then we will depart for Savannah, Georgia, the most haunted city in North America! We will make a photo stop at the Old Sheldon Church Ruins en route. Sheldon Church has lain in ruin for more than 120 years. Its gable roof, pediment, windows, and interior have disappeared, but the classic simplicity of its design still remains. One of the first Greek-Revival structures built in the United States, Prince William's Parish Church, erected 1745-55, was once one of the most impressive churches in the Province. The ruins are nevertheless a picturesque site from which the visitor can visualize the grandeur of the pre-Revolutionary church. Lunch will be on your own en route. When we arrive we will meet our local guide and enjoy an overview tour of Savannah’s Historic District; then we will check into our accommodations for the next two nights at TBA hotel. Dinner is included tonight at the Pirate House before our Ghosts and Gravestones Trolley “Frightseeing Tour”. Historic Tours of America and Old Town Trolley Tours invite you to explore our premier haunted tour, Ghosts & Gravestones, as they mix some of Savannah’s darker side with a good dose of humor! Unseen spirits stroll among the living in the streets and squares of Savannah - “America’s Most Haunted City!” Hear the tales no other tours dare tell as shadows play tricks on your mind. FIRST is a stop at the Andrew Low House. There have long been reports of spirits that inhabit the home and tales of staff seeing apparitions. Then it’s on to the Perkin’s & Son’s Ship Chandlery to commiserate with the spirits and truly EXPERIENCE the stories of haunted River Street.

Wed., October 25

Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning, then we’ll depart for Bonaventure Cemetery. Bonaventure Cemetery is considered to be the most haunted cemetery in Savannah, Georgia. This is a historical site of the area, considered to be graced with beauty and appeal. You may have heard about this popular cemetery in the book that was made into a movie called “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil”. There is more lingering among the beauty of this particular cemetery. There are a wide array of spirits that seem to linger on the grounds. Lunch will then be on your own at the City Market or Downtown Broughton Street. After lunch our afternoon tour continues including a visit to the Colonial Park and Cemetery and the Historic Isaiah Davenport House. The Colonial Park Cemetery, one of Savannah’s most beautiful restorations, is the final resting place for many of Savannah's earliest citizens. It should come as no surprise that Colonial Park Cemetery is a popular stop for local ghost tours. According to one story, a maid at the old City Hotel on Bay Street was found in tears outside the gate of the cemetery. When her coworkers inquired what was wrong, she told them she had followed a young man from the hotel who walked into the cemetery and disappeared. It’s also home to one of Savannah's most famous ghosts, that of Rene Asche Rondolier, a disfigured orphan who was said to have called Colonial Park his home in the early 1800s. Accused of murdering two girls whose bodies were found in the cemetery, Rene was dragged to the nearby swamps and lynched and left for dead. More dead bodies turned up in the cemetery in the days that followed. The townspeople were convinced it was Rene's ghost and some still call the cemetery, Rene's playground. While the Davenport House is admired for its historical importance, and architectural beauty, another particular aspect of the house to note comes in form of the supernatural. The Davenport is well known for the many lost souls which have taken up residence at the house over the years. Dinner is included tonight at the River House Seafood Restaurant. There will be free time on River Street after dinner to browse and shop before we return to the hotel.
