Our adventure begins as we depart the Capital District and head south. Tonight’s accommodations are at the Comfort Suites Fredericksburg South (540-891-5465) in Fredericksburg, VA. Dinner will be on your own tonight.
Sunday, April 15:
After a continental breakfast at the hotel, we’re off to Charleston, South Carolina! Our accommodations are at the Springhill Suites at Ripley Point (843-571-1711) in Charleston, South Carolina. Dinner this evening is at the James Island Crab House. Then we will return to the hotel.
Monday, April 16:
A continental breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. Today we will embark on a guided carriage tour of Charleston’s Historic District. Along the way we’ll view 18th and 19th century buildings, while learning about the history of Charleston, and its important role in American history. The tour will conclude in City Market, where you will have free time to explore the numerous shops and galleries and enjoy lunch on your own. Then we will travel to the Magnolia Plantation, where we will delight in a tram and house tour. Founded in 1676 by the Drayton family, Magnolia Plantation has survived the centuries and witnessed the history of our nation unfold before it from the American Revolution through the Civil War and beyond. It is the oldest public tourist site in the Low Country, and the oldest public gardens in America, opening its doors to visitors in 1870 to view the thousands of beautiful flowers and plants in its famous gardens. After our tour we will depart for dinner which is included at the Coast Bar and Grill. We will return to the hotel after dinner and your evening is free.
Tuesday, April 17:
After our continental breakfast (included) at the hotel this morning, we are on our way to the Charleston Tea Plantation. Located on picturesque Wadmalaw Island in the heart of the Low Country of South Carolina, the Bigelows invite you to experience the beauty and charm of their beloved Charleston Tea Plantation. View acres and acres of breathtaking Camellia Sinensis tea plants as far as the eye can see, learn first-hand how tea is made during an informative Factory Tour, take an enjoyable Trolley Ride through the tea fields, and taste a variety of their teas. A picnic box lunch is included at the Plantation after our tour. Next we’re off to Jekyll Island, where upon arrival we’ll embark on a tram tour if the island. Following our tour we will be treated to a Welcome Reception at our accommodations, the Hampton Inn and Suites Jekyll Island (912-635-3733). The hotel offers boardwalk access to the beach, zero entry heated pool and a whirlpool. Dinner is included tonight in Port Royal at the Jekyll Island Club. The rest of your evening is free.
Wednesday, April 18:
A continental breakfast is included at the hotel. We will then depart for the Jekyll Island History Museum. Embark on a tram tour of the Jekyll Island Historic District before heading to the island of St. Simons Island. Lunch will be on your own in the Village of St. Simon and then you will take a tour of St. Simons Island with a local step on guide. Dinner will be included tonight at the Millhouse Steak House in Brunswick.
Thursday, April 19:
A continental breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. We will then depart for Savannah, Georgia! With a local guide at hand, we will tour Savannah’s Historic District. Next, you’ll have free time to stroll Riverstreet for shopping and lunch on your own. After lunch we will depart on a Dolphin/Eco Cruise. The vessel provides an excellent viewing platform designed to get you as close as possible to the dolphins without getting your feet wet. The team will introduce you to our local dolphins as they interact in their natural environment. The informative commentary will keep you updated throughout the cruise. We will then resume our tour of the Low Country before we check into our accommodations at the Hotel Indigo (912) 236-4440 located in Savannah’s Historic District, just a short walk from Riverstreet. . Dinner will be on your own tonight.
Friday, April 20:
A continental breakfast is included at the hotel this morning, and then we will bid the South a fond farewell and begin our homeward journey north. After rest & lunch stops we’ll arrive at our accommodations for the evening, at the Comfort Suites Fredericksburg South (540-891-1112) in Fredericksburg, VA. Dinner is on your own tonight.
Saturday, April 21:
A continental breakfast included at the hotel this morning. We’ll then depart for the Capital District with an approximate arrival at 6pm. Stops will be made each way.
