Countless historic sites & landmarks tell of the proud role Cape Cod has played in American history, beginning with the arrival of the pilgrims in Provincetown in 1620. With its endless runs of seashore and picturesque vistas, the Cape is the perfect spot for outdoor festivals. One such event is the annual Scallop Festival, which celebrates this tasty shellfish and is the largest scallop festival on the east coast. Fri, September 22

We’ll board the coach this morning and travel to Sandwich, MA where we’ll have lunch at the famous Dan’l Webster Inn. We'll savor the grand buffet luncheon, (included) which features a selection of chef's specialties that are sure to please even the most discriminating palate. We will then see the JFK Memorial, St. Francis Church. This impressive Roman Catholic Church was the summer parish of the Kennedy family, where John F. Kennedy and his brothers served as altar boys. We will travel to Hyannis where we'll delight in a Harbor Cruise. We will take in the gorgeous shoreline and breathtaking coastal views on this one hour narrated cruise. We will then travel to our accommodations at the Heritage House Hotel (508) 775-7000. The Heritage House Hotel is ideally situated in the heart of village of Hyannis on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Unique shops, local restaurants and art galleries. Dinner tonight is included at the hotel and you’re evening will be free after.

Sat., September 23

After a full breakfast is included this morning. Our local guide will meet us at the hotel for our full day of touring. You will travel the Old’s King Highway, a scenic byway winding through centuries of Cape Cod history. It winds past hundreds of historic structures which characterizes its early development. View the Eastham Windmill, a Cape Cod Lighthouse and visit the Cape Cod National Seashore Visitor Center. Take some time to enjoy the wonderful restaurants, shops, and galleries. Lunch will be on your own today. Choose to partake in Opt. A) Whale watching. You will travel into the natural habitat of a diverse marine environment including birds that migrate here from all over the Atlantic, and fish which use these shallow waters to feed. Try to spot a Humpback, Minke, and Fin Whales going about their daily business. An onboard naturalist will introduce you to everything you see and will answer any of your questions. Or you may choose Opt. B) a Dune Tour excursion. Ride through the protective lands of the Cape Cod National Seashore, the largest protected coastline in the country. Dinner is included this evening.

Sun., September 24

After breakfast, we will then head to the Scallop Festival (rain or shine). Hosted "under the tent" in its new location at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds in Falmouth, the festival features over 100 craft & merchant booths, a midway, entertainment, special foods, and of course, scallops! Lunch is included and your meal choices are 1) Fried Scallops or 2) Grilled Chicken Breast. We will depart at 3PM for an approximate arrival back into the Capital District at 8 PM.
