Wilkum! You're among friends in Lancaster County...the Pennsylvania Dutch Country. There is more than one reason to visit, more than one great attraction, more surprises down scenic byways, and more ways to have a great time.  A healthy helping of what makes this area unique stems from the charms of the Amish or Plain Sect People.  In the Amish communities, horse-drawn buggies clippety-clap down country roads; children play outside one-room schoolhouses; and a stop at a roadside stand is an experience.  When you mix the old and the new, the past with the present, the end result is always "fun.”  We will get double the entertainment, and will see two shows; Jesus at the Sight & Sound Theatre and  Home for the Holidays at the American Music Theatre!  Celebrate the holidays this year with a special tour to Amish Country where simple joys and pleasures are yours for the taking!

EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT: Book and Pay in full by September 7, 2018 and receive $20 off per person!  (Be sure to mention this offer as it is NOT an automatic deduction.)

Did you know that Lancaster, PA was once the capital of the United States, or that the magnificent, wooden beamed barns of Amish country are constructed in just one day? Upon arrival delight in shopping on your own at the Kitchen Kettle Village, where you'll find over 40 shops jammed full of Lancaster's simple pleasures. Next we will check into our accommodations at The Country Inn of Lancaster (717-393-3413), which offers a delightful "home away from home" atmosphere, as well as an indoor pool. An all you can eat buffet dinner is included this evening at the Miller’s Smorgasbord. This award winning smorgasbord features mouth-watering American favorites as well as their own distinctive Heritage Dishes and bakery-fresh desserts...chilled steamed shrimp, top sirloin, breast of turkey, golden fried chicken, baked ham and fish, chicken corn soup, baked cabbage, bakery fresh cheesecake, shoo-fly pie, gourmet apple pie, and much more. After dinner we're off to the Sight & Sound Millennium Theatre to see the all new show, Jesus! Jesus’ story may be familiar but his actions still surprise us. He befriends outcasts and heals the hurting. He challenges social norms and confronts hypocrisy. He sets sail with fishermen and reasons with religious scholars. The lives he touches are never the same. From the streets of Jerusalem to the raging Sea of Galilee, no place - and no person - is beyond the reach of his love. After the show, we will return to the hotel.

Sat., December 8

A full breakfast is included at the hotel this morning and then a local guide will then join us for a 2-hour Amish Farmlands tour. Travel the scenic byways through the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country to see a slice of rural life. Pass by several one room schoolhouses which are still being used today by the Amish children. Maybe we'll be lucky enough to see Amish horse and buggies on the roads. We will visit with the Lapp family inside of their home where Anna and her girls will make some snacks and drinks for you while you sit and talk and get to know the family. Next we're off to the American Music Theatre to see their 2018 Christmas Show: Home for the Holidays. Inspired by warm memories of family Christmases together, Home for the Holidays celebrates the joys and merriment of spending the holidays with the ones we love. The show’s setting takes place on a festive Christmas Eve and features many of the beloved traditions we look forward to each year. This live, musical experience will feature some of your favorite sacred and secular holiday songs, superb musical arrangements, outstanding singing and dancing, and the incredible sounds of the AMT Orchestra. Come celebrate the wonder, warmth, and magic of the season as we go “home for the holidays” with a show guaranteed to leave you in the Christmas Spirit! After the show we will enjoy lunch (included) in an Amish home. Look forward to a family style meal of two meats, three vegetables, homemade bread, and delicious homemade desserts. We will dine with Sam Lapp and his sons while Ruth and the girls serve us the family style meal. Yes, the family will be dining with us! We will leave the area at 3pm with an approximate arrival in the Capital District at 10pm. One stop each way.
